Overview
War Crimes Monitoring Project: Fourth Phase (WCMP IV) is implemented by the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina with the objective to promote transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness in the processing of war crimes cases in BiH pursuant to the goals of the Revised National War Crimes Case Processing Strategy (the Revised Strategy). The Revised Strategy is the guiding national legislation that lays out the goals and mechanisms for the BiH judiciary to process the substantial backlog of war crimes cases in a timely manner. In parallel, the WCMP IV will provide feedback and advice to national stakeholders including the Supervisory Body on the Implementation of the Revised National War Crimes Case Processing Strategy (the Supervisory Body) and the beneficiary institutions. Additionally, the Project will continue to administer skills training and peer-to-peer events in order to strengthen technical and operational capacities for efficient processing of war crimes cases. The project is in its fourth phase of implementation. The current phase builds upon the lessons learned within the previous phases in implementing activities and seeks to identify current challenges to be addressed in the processing of war crimes cases. The project activities supporting the work of processing war crimes cases by the judiciary in BiH reflects Sustainable Development Goal 16 promoting Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. The project is funded by the EU and implemented by the Mission to support the goals of the Revised Strategy through monitoring the progress of the processing of war crimes cases, providing qualitative analysis of case processing and advising on the implementation of the EU Grant through regular reporting to the EU Delegation (EUD).
