Overview

The OSCE Women's Peace Leadership Programme (WPLP) is a high-level mentoring and leadership initiative under the OSCE’s Networking Platform for Women Leaders including Peacebuilders and Mediators, within the WIN project. It is designed to strengthen the leadership, visibility, and influence of women peacebuilders and mediators across the OSCE region and Afghanistan.

Our journey so far

The programme equips women leaders with the skills and networks they need to shape peace processes, advance reconciliation, and contribute to conflict prevention and resolution at all levels. Each edition introduces a specific theme, such as climate and environmental security, to address evolving peace and security challenges.

  • Founding edition (2022–2023)
The first cohort of women peacebuilders laid the foundations of the programme. They worked with mentors, built cross-border solidarity, and developed leadership strategies to influence peace processes in their own contexts.
  • Expanding resilience (2023–2024)
Building on the first year, the second edition deepened focus on resilience and systems thinking. Participants learned to navigate complex political environments, strengthen negotiation skills, and support one another through peer mentoring.
  • Gender, climate and mediation (2025)
The third edition integrates gender, climate, and environmental security. Women leaders are exploring how environmental challenges fuel instability, and how inclusive leadership can address climate-related security risks in peace processes.
