Overview
The “Towards Healthy Online Information Spaces — SAIFE Renewed” project aims to assist participating States in upholding OSCE principles and commitments on freedom of expression and media freedom in the digital realm.
The project develops and advances policy guidance on free expression and media freedom within a complex algorithmic information environment, aiming to address existing and emerging challenges at the intersection of technology, information integrity and human rights. In particular, it explores the evolving relationship between media, Big Tech and AI as well as the possibility to leverage technology in support of media freedom and the OSCE’s broader peace and security agenda. In October 2025, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media launched a comprehensive Policy Manual on Safeguarding Media Freedom in the Age of Big Tech Platforms and AI, designed to support OSCE participating States in ensuring the availability and accessibility of public interest journalism and reliable information in the digital era.
